Change Browser On Key 0 to any app (txt file mod) FP1 & FP2 phones

Change Browser On Key 0 to any app (txt file mod) FP1 & FP2 phones

modification changes the built-in Browser to another application when we press 0 key on Idle screen

I was searching for this modification because Rompatcher patch was not working on N95 after upgrading software to v30 version

After changing application running after pressing Multimedia key described here Any app running with multimedia key (txt file mod) i found a way to change app running after holding 0 key long press in Idle screen

Description:

For FP1 phones:

Copy Z:\private\10202be9\101F8783.txt file to PC

Following line is responsible for app running when 0 key is pressed:

int 268471609 0 cap_rd=alwayspass cap_wr=alwaysfail

268471609=0x10008D39 = Z:\sys\bin\BrowserNG.exe

We just need to change 268471609 value to new app UID (decimal)
It can be hexadecimal also

For example x-plore UID ( my favourite) is 0xA0000BCD hexadecimal = 2684357581 decimal and the line shold looks like:

int 2684357581 0 cap_rd=alwayspass cap_wr=alwaysfail

or

int 0xA0000BCD 0 cap_rd=alwayspass cap_wr=alwaysfail

You must keep character code Unicode(UTF-16).

Copy modified 101F8783.txt file to C:\private\10202be9\ folder

For FP2 phones:

Copy Z:\private\10202be9\102828B2.txt file to PC

Change marked on red string responsible for app running when 0 key is pressed like it is described above:

int 268471609 0 cap_rd=alwayspass cap_wr=alwaysfail

Copy modified 102828B2.txt file to C:\private\10202be9\ folder

Tutorial : How to install Java or Symbian Apps

This guide will be divided into two parts -- Bluetooth and Card Readers. Please refer to the appropriate section to find out how you should go about the install process.

You will need a filemanager app (such as FExplorer or SeleQ) and the devices to transfer the data to your phone.

Quick Info:
- Applications usually have the *.SIS filetype.
- Cracks for applications usually have the *.APP filetype.
- Java applications can have *.JAD and *.JAR filetypes, however the Nokia 6600 can ONLY use *.JAR.
- Games can come in the form of SIS applications and Java. Generally, SIS games are faster, have better music and graphics.

8] After the installation process is finished, feel free to delete the file if it still remains (if it successfully installed, there should be no file, or a file that is only 1kb large).

How To format your s60 phone?

It may happens that a program corrupts the C: drive of your phone. In such case, some data can be lost of course but, more annoying, some applications may not work or work only partially...

On a Series 60 based phone, two key sequences will allow to restore your phone to a cleaner state:

Normal Reset *#7780# : Restores ini files from rom but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)
Hard Reset *#7370# : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.

In both case, the phone will ask you a confirmation and you will have to enter a security code (12345 by default).

Repairing A Corruptted MMC

Correct Treatment of your MMC

Physically, memory cards are quite fragile pieces of high technology, susceptible to damage from various silly things like excessive heat, condensation, strong magnetic fields, physical damage from rough handling and/or bending! (similar to most electronic devices then..)

Given the natue of mobile memory card products, they are constantly being taken in and out of some form of interface with a mobile phone, a camera, a laptop, or desktop PC, or a separate memory card reader. The number of different devices they have to be able to interact with is in the thousands.

It is not too surprisingly, then that sometimes the state of the file system on the memory card can get damaged.

This may happen for a number of different reasons, including:

> removing the card from a device whilst an application is trying to read/write to it.. (Just be patient...)
> battery drain on a device whilst in use meaning an insufficent voltage failure whilst writing to the card.
> a poor implementation of the MMC standard on the device using the card
> poor connectivity software drivers on the device or the Windows PC/Mac
> physical damage like card or device being dropped, bent, getting wet etc...
> lots of others i am sure..

As often as not, the problem is not terminal for your memory card, but just a software issue ( or in physical terms, it could be called "a temporary disalignment of the all the bits and bytes on the card").

The fix for this problem is the same as for any other file storage device (like a floppy or hard drive) with corrupt or invalid file system, namely; re-format the file system.
